Custom Window Shutter Styles & Applications

Plantation Shutters (a.k.a. California Shutters or Wide Louver Shutters)

Today's most common type of interior custom shutter in the Pacific Northwest is the louvered plantation shutter. These fine window treatments are made from genuine wood, faux wood, or polysatin resin with louvers that are 2 1/2", 3 1/2", or 4 1/2" wide. Remember, the wider the louvers on your shutters - the more open your view will be when you look through them from the inside.

Traditional Shutters (a.k.a. Classic Shutters or Colonial Shutters)

Traditional custom shutters have smaller louvers than plantation-style shutters. The louvers are either 1 1/4" or 1 7/8" wide and are usually made of natural hardwood. These shutters are an excellent choice for smaller windows and add classic architectural details to your home.

French door shutters

French Door Shutters

Shutters for French doors are always ordered as outside (OM) mounts. They are single-panel shutters hinged on the same side as the actual French door. Panels specified with cut-outs provide clearance for your door handles.

Café Style Shutters

Also known as half-shutters, Cafe Shutters cover only the lower portion of a window. As a result, they are an excellent choice for ground-floor windows. They provide multiple benefits by allowing privacy, ample illumination from above, and an unobstructed view.

Choosing custom window shutters for your home's interior can be overwhelming. But, with Adrette's expert guidance, you’ll make confident decisions and enjoy timeless, elegant wood shutters (or faux wood if you choose) that are fully-customized and built for your windows and doors.

Our patient, personable shutter installers and talented craftsmen are experienced in installing all styles of shutters. You will be delighted with the result and its impact on your home interior.

Benefits of Custom Window Shutters

Shutters instantly transform the look and feel of your home! They’re a timeless, classic custom window treatment known for their elegance, function, and unique style.

Shutters Control Light

Shutters allow you to control the light levels in your rooms very efficiently. They filter the sun's harmful UV rays, reflect solar energy, and help maintain a healthy balance between natural and artificial lighting during daylight hours.

Add Value

Custom Shutters Add Value to Your Home

If you want to increase the value of your home, adding window shutters is a great way to do so. They improve its appearance and boost marketability when it comes time for you to sell!

Noise Reduction

Shutters Provide Noise Reduction

Unlike metal blinds, hardwood shutters act as an effective sound barrier. Your home will feel more peaceful, and you might even sleep more soundly!

Window coverings like plantation shutters are attractive on their own. However, consider combining them with custom drapery panels for a softer appearance and even better acoustics.
